06/12/21 The Mystery of the Empty Cabins: Lane Cove National Park.

All the cabins in Lane Cove Caravan Park were booked out last night, which is why we used the tent. I don't know why the cabins were booked out because they were all empty, including the one we were booked to move into that night.  I asked if we could leave the car at the cabin between tent pack-up and cabin check-in time.
"Sure", said the receptionist, making a show of checking the computer. "The previous booking checked out already. Just leave space for the cleaners to park out the front."
I didn't have the heart to tell her we scoped it out and knew the cabin was already empty.  One night in the tent certainly wasn't a hardship and I'm sure the Caravan Park had valid reasons for pretending that 30 empty cabins were booked.

We went for a ride on Sydney's Metro and suburban train lines, which was a whole other experience compared to Adelaide's rattly little diesel rail cars.  The trains were still empty though: everyone was very careful to give each other space.

This was not the busy Sydney Metro we've seen on previous visits.

Vertigo-inducing escalators and glass lift.

We weren't riding just for fun, although the Metro is always fun. We went to Newtown and met our new house sit and the cat, George, for whom we will be responsible. George took one look at us and hid under the bed.  I don't think we will be troubled by excessive adoration from George.

Back home at the Caravan Park we settled into the luxury of our cabin, I did the usual set up for the next two work days, and off we went for a very enjoyable dinner with our son and daughter-in-law who are (of course!) two of the most delightful people with whom we could spend our time.

Home for a couple of nights: Lane Cove Caravan Park.
