1 Feb: The Best Gelato In The World
With our departure from Geelong imminent, Roger was struck by a yearning for Gelato, and not just any old gelato. His gelato experience back when we caught the ferry here in December convinced him that Augustus Gelatery in Geelong was, to quote him, 'the best in the world and then some!', and that he must go back to relive the experience and IBS be damned.
Must have more! |
We didn't get gelato on Thursday because we'd just arrived.
We didn't get gelato on Friday because we were too busy riding the rail trail and having drinkies with the neighbours at the Geelong Showgrounds.
We didn't get gelato on Saturday because we were too busy visiting museums and watching bicycle races and swearing at corellas, and anyway it was too hot for optimum gelato-eating as the rate of melting would be too fast for an optimal eating experience.
We didn't get gelato on Sunday because we were too busy watching bicycle races and finding new sleeping mattresses and singing the praises of earplugs.
We didn't get gelato on Monday because we were too busy riding the rail trail again and then we were too tired and forgot all about gelato.
We didn't get gelato on Tuesday because I worked, Roger pretended to work, and we rode our bikes along the Barwon River in the evening.
Wednesday evening rolled around and Roger realised that we were leaving Geelong the next day and he still hadn't had any gelato so he better hurry up and get his gelato on. With no further ado we headed off downtown to the gelato shop, which was extremely busy on a Wednesday night, as befitted the best gelato shop on the world.
We had to park a block away, near the very fancy Geelong Library. |
And we had our gelato.
And it was still the best gelato in the world.
And Roger was happy.
Now we could leave Geelong.
