21/04/2022 Dawdling Beside the Beach: Back in Adelaide.

When I handed in my keys in the morning I told the Keith Motel about the everlasting light situation, thereby discharging my duty of care to future travelers.

I dodged all the rain showers on the highway, stopping briefly to admire some wire art;

and again at the look out as I came into Tailem Bend, with wide open views of the Murray River.

I watched the ferry cross the river at Tailem Bend.  On the other side of the river is Jervois, relegated to being Tailem Bend's little cousin on account of being on the other side of the river from all the action eg the highway and The Bend  motor sport park, which on its own is almost as big as Tailem Bend anyway.

Flocks of little corellas dotted the trees and paddocks alongside the river.

And then I met a rhinoceros, which was not what I was expecting in Tailem Bend.  At first I thought he was another whimsical folly but no, he was merely advertising for the nearby Monarto Safari Park (but with animals, not Golf exhibits).

It was a big rhinoceros.

The rest of the trip was uneventful apart from a brief stop in Murray Bridge where an apricot strudel promised much and delivered little.  In short order I was reunited with Roger at West Beach, where the poor man was waiting patiently for his lunch because all he had was a bottle of peanut butter and I had all the accoutrements with which to convert peanut butter into lunch.

Finally!  Can I have the other bits of lunch now?

We dawdled at the beach with time to kill until we collected the keys to our next house sit.

Up, up and around.

"I want a boat like that," said Roger.  Then he thought a bit, back to the last time he was on a boat like that.  "No I don't," he said.  "Seasick feels the same regardless of the level of luxury."

Glenelg.

Then we dawdled at the beach a bit more, and watched the sun set over Gulf St Vincent while all the locals enjoyed having their beach back since the Easter holiday crowds had departed.

Henley Beach jetty.

Jetty's end.

Horizontal waterfall and lights.
