13/10/21 Bicycle Fix: Coffin Bay.

Rain fell on and off all night and continued today, so we stayed in the cabin and did indoor stuff and bike maintenance.

View from our front door. I think we'll stay inside today.

I'm sure my bike was made on a Friday when everyone just wanted to go home: there is always something not working on my bike. For a long time it was the brakes and most recently it's been the front derailleur which impolitely declines to reliably change gears. Oh, and the seat gradually jiggles itself into an increasingly nose-up position whilst cycling, which is both uncomfortable for some important anatomy and disconcerting in general.

Armed with a set of Allen keys and a YouTube video, I set out to fix my front derailleur. I did a fantastic job. In fact, I 'fixed' my front derailleur so well that I rang Circuit Cycles in Port Lincoln and booked the bike in on Monday so that they can unfix my 'fixing' and do a proper job. And while they're at it they will replace the seat post because the adjustment is stripped and I couldn't fix that even with a YouTube video.  The up side of all these bicycle shenanigans, oh dear, is that I can definitely feel the justification for a new bicycle coming on.

Rain is falling outside again. Time to get under the doona and shock myself with how expensive a bicycle can be.

Of course no one takes photos on a rain day spent inside a cabin.  I'm no execption to that rule so here, for your viewing entertainment, are some various wildlife pictures from the last couple of days in Coffin Bay and Port Lincoln.

Kangaroo whom we startled beside the Parnkalla trail.

Plover beside the Oyster trail.  As plovers do, he'd made his nest in a very exposed place and was suffering from stress trying to defend it from all perceived dangers.

Pelican line up on the Coffin bay jetty.

Shingleback lizard on the Oyster track.

Sooty Oystercatcher, Coffin Bay.
