15/07/21 Bunya Mountains to Nanango

Well it rained all night and apparently the wind blew quite a gale but we were tucked up snug as a bug in a rug, er, car.  By the time we surfaced and joined our friends from last night in the BBQ shelter for breakfast half the campsite had read the weather forecast (more rain) and decided they were getting out of there.

My breakfast buddy.

There was a reason for the mass exodus: the campground was all grass and every vehicle churned it up a little bit more on the way out. We were entertained by a Man with Winch, who came to the rescue of a Man with (bogged) Motorhome and in the process made a lot more mud.

Getting soggier...

Oh, we thought. Maybe we'd better leave before we have need of Man with Winch too.

So we did.

Let's go!

We drove to the top of the mountain and looked at the view.

The seat was wet and cold.

The view came in glimpses.  Most of it was hidden by cloud.

We drove to the bottom of the mountain and had lunch at Kumbia, where we took off all our beanies, scarves, fleece, and big jackets because the weather at the bottom of the mountain is entirely more benevolent than at the top. Then we took a little bouncy road or two to Nanango where we settled into a cheap donga cabin and hung everything out to dry.

Drying things out in the not-forecast sunshine.

The weather didn't read the weather forecast and the rain has so far failed to arrive, a fact which has caused Roger great displeasure. He likes his weather to keep its promises and will be very disappointed if the sun is shining tomorrow morning.
