30/09/25. The Best Laid Plans....

I've got a bit of catching up to do...

You know how it is: one minute you're gallivanting about the mountains and jumping on and off trains and gondolas or clambering up stone spiral staircases in ancient city walls and then bam! There you are trying to work out how to call an ambulance in a foreign language.

Roger's back decided it had had enough of gallivanting and went on a holiday of its own, taking him with it to the Luzernkantonsspital via a ride with two very nice Swiss ambulance men by the names of Patrick and Peter.

I got to ride with them and while Roger drifted off into chemical dreams I started learning all about our travel insurance and reworking all our plans, some of which had included spending 5 hours on a train to Salzburg today and now included finding more accommodation in Lucerne at very short notice.

He wasnt going anywhere but I still needed somewhere to stay.

It was a long day/story, but let's make it short. In the early evening I left Roger to continue his journey through the Swiss hospital system overnight and walked back along the river to my new digs in the old town. It was a lovely walk past the old city walls where we said hello to the cattle yesterday,

past random little bits of old buildings and pretty places,

and with the added adventure of self-check-in at The Lubo and then finding my room in an old building full of nooks and crannies and blind corners with half staircases. The room didn't have a number on the door either, but my card only worked on one door and there was nobody else in here so I got all settled in and claimed the room as my own.  There was even a Coop not two doors away so I could continue the 5pm scrummage for 50% discounted dinner items.

I'll leave it at that for the night. I've got to go do a spot of holiday reorganising now.

Roger's home for a night or two. Room mate to come. View not too shabby.
