Our Itineracy Anniversary
One year ago today we finally packed our last bits and pieces in our storage shed, farewelled our fridge to a good home, and camped at the Mitchell Weir on the first night of our trip to South Australia. Since then we've embraced the itinerant life and spent quite a bit of time ping-ponging around between the older and younger generations of our family in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Although how we've ended up living a capital city life when we're both committed country-towners I don't know.
Today, on our one-year anniversary of itinerancy, we got up at an unsociable hour and drove to the Epworth Private Hospital where the BD was booked for some tedious but necessary tests and I was along for moral support and chocolate as required.
Unsociably early Melbourne. |
Power lines painted gold by morning sunlight. |
While the BD and I disappeared into the bowels of Medical Imaging, Roger prowled the suburban streets on a reconnaissance mission, scoping out all the important things like railway stations, available street parking, and handy coffee shops. He and I hatched a plan to start our coffee-shop research at the hospital cafe, but our plans were thwarted when the testing conveyor belt spat BD out rather sooner than we expected, and we had to take her home with all 3 of us sans caffeine.
We walked the dogs (hers) and then we went home and walked the dogs (ours).
Spring sprang in our garden when we weren't looking. |
Nostalgic as we may have been for our footloose and fancy free freedoms of one year ago, we didn't at all wish to recreate the sad evening meal we ate at the Mitchell weir, when we attempted to reheat yesterday's pizza on an electric BBQ. No, 12 months on we were far classier than that and dined in style on left overs and cheese toasties instead.
More Spring. |
Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it? I think it flies whether you're having fun or not, particularly if busy, looks like you'll have an endless supply of places to ride to, see, and drink tea at. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jasmine. We're still working on the best way to carry the thermos on the bicycle...
