I must apologise to South Australia: I've been guilty of poking fun at the state for its reactions to rainfall totals that would barely register as showers in Queensland. It'd come to my attention that in SA culverts are a thing of rarity, drainage is non-existent, and 30mm of rain has an effect that in Qld would require at least 300mm and a healthy amount of hail. Add to this the fact that winter that is both wet (well, showery and poorly drained) and cold, and my poor little Queensland-acclimated self has to make some adjustments and be more sympathetic to South Australia's weather.
It's not all bad though. Cold aside, the grass is green and all the creeks are running with water, which is a nice change. We are very fortunate to be house sitting just over the road from Black Hill Reserve which is part of the Mt Lofty Ranges Parkland. Suitably adorned with raincoat and umbrella, I've been out exploring the Reserve and taking photos of the wildlife and the water.
With no further ado, here are some of my water and wild life moments:

Huge fungi beside Fifth Creek

Water in the Torrens, which is (sometimes) acting like a real creek river.

Just over the road: entry to Black Hill Conservation Park from my place.
Fifth Creek runs through Black Hill CP. This is also part of the Adelaide 100, which is now on my ever-growing bucket list of Things To Do in Adelaide.
South Australian grass trees, which SA calls Yuccas, just to be different. They are more silver in colour than the ones I'm used to.
The water is a novelty.
Part of the Wildflower Trail, with no flowers because its the wrong time of year.
Old fella gum tree.
Kangaroos watching warily as I tramped past.
New Holland Honeyeater, singing his heart out.
Adelaide City in a brief moment of sunshine.
Yellow tailed black cockatoo...
...and again, in flight.
Eastern Rosella.
Eucalyptus blossom.
Fifth Creek meets the Torrens.

Fifth Creek in flow.

There now, wasn't that fun!
I'm off to walk up to the top of Black Hill. Have a great day!
